Solar Pool Heater

Solar Pool Heater

This solar pool heater project was more fun to build than being effective at heating a pool. I think it would take at least six of these to make a noticeable difference in temperature . It’s 240 feet of garden hose coiled and zip tied on to pegboard and tapped into the return using the existing pump. The water temperature was raised but not nearly enough to heat the pool.

I built a 650 sq ft home and this heater is doing a fantastic job.>>>ur2.pl/1103 It is fairly quiet although you do hear it a little when running, nothing alarming. I have no issues filling the bath tub and have hot water on demand when needed. Very happy so far!?

Shantelle Adeline says:

I did it quickly and efficiently with instructions from Avasva webpage.

Vadym Klimovich says:

I bought instruction from Avasva and I build it very very cheap.

Play with Junk says:

Wouldn't it be more effective to paint the pool black? Much more area for the sun to heat up…

You could also fill the pool with fire instead of water.

This was filmed with the garden hose.

rhnb id the real pool heater

John Apelcede says:

Go buy some foam "noodle" floats and slice open one side and put them over your garden hose. They will insulate the hoses from heat loss and keep them off of the ground.

toby1248 says:

you could get much more effective heating if you covered the whole thing with glass

whatever says:

Well duh! Your pool is too big for one coil to heat it. We have a small 12'x30" pool for the kids and one coil about the size you made, raised the temp 10 degrees.

What state do you live in because I live in California and we like our pools to be cold to cool down from the heat.  We have good weather so I'm not complaining but am just saying. Is it cold where you live?

Great informative video. Thanks for sharing!

THAT IS SO BRILLIANT! NICE JOB DUDE 😀

lberhold says:

It's above ground, why didn't you use a thermosiphon?

Tuco Pacifico says:

This is Ok for filling the pool, but not a long term solution. It would help if you put the hose down to the bottom and middle of the pool, since heat rises, the water will always be colder there.
